Traditional poets, dancers and music instrument players
Like every other village of our area, Phrenaros has a rich tradition when it comes to traditional poetry. Singers such as Michalis Pittas, Antonis Protopapas (Laos), Malios, Ttofis, Peskeshis and Pierettis left their mark to our community with their love poems as well as their “tsiattista” (traditional poems/songs).
Pierettis dedicating to them reports:
“May they live long like a hundred times,
they, that sang the bad and the tragedies,
who killed sorrow and spread joy”
Worth mentioning also is the well known dancer, Georgios Karaolis as well as music instrument players such as Kekkos the violin player and Prokopios Kefalas and Georgios Kiles, laouto player. Pieris Pierettis was exceptional for his violin performances, the love songs, the “tsiattisma” (phrases rhyming) as well as folklore poetry.
“This is their memorial and they will be referred in the press,
even if I don’t pay my dues, scripts remain,
Their memory eternal,
And long they live.
