Between the first and the second phase of the invasion, Giannakis came to the village with permission, it was like he had a bad feeling and came to say goodbye to his relatives. During truce he was called back to the unit to serve. His battalion, the 706 engineer battalion was sent to Kyrenia for mine laying.
Information say that he was seen in Karavas and Lapithos. There, while he was covering the withdrawal of other people, on the 15 th August as it seems he was caught by the Turkish. A captive woman, after her liberation, declared that she saw him being tortured by the Turkish soldiers. This news encouraged his relative to seek for him everywhere with superhuman efforts. But the Turks remained cruel. They gave no information.
KYRIAKOS G. KAMELARIS
Kyriakos was born on the 9 th September in 1956 in Trikomo .After primary school he wanted to work. He chose the profession of a builder which had good perspectives. By the time he was seven he joined the military force .He was perfect to his profession.
When on the 15 th of July the betraying coup took place, Kyriakos was serving in Bogazi, very close to his village. His parents sensed that the coup was the beginning for our island's terrible things. That's why they rushed to Bogazi to visit their son. They were nervous. There was a bad intuition in their breasts.
On the 20 th July, when the ships of the enemy were seen in Kyrenia, the battalion of Kyriakos was led there to confront the invaders. The unarmed David would confront the armed Goliath .Our children were led as sheep to the slaughter.
When truce was agreed, the betrayed people were informed about this bad thing that happened. The enemy stepped in our island: In its passing there was violence, evilness ruins, pain and tears …Kyriako's parents hurried to meet their child. But they did not find him anywhere. No one could help them. To tell them something about their son. Where he was, how he was. They were just informed that he was considered a missing person. So he was passed on the list with the missing people.
So many years have passed. And the unfortunate parents have not stopped to hope even for a moment, to pray and wait….

During the Turkish invasion on the 20 th July in 1974 Loukas was a soldier in Bogazi. He was immediately transferred with his unit to the Aspri Mouti (white nose) near the Kantara fort. There, it is believed that he was arrested by the Turkish invaders.
One of his companions says that on that day he had gone to bring water. When he came back he found no one. But he did not hear any shootings or saw any dead or hurt people or blood. So he assumed that they must have been arrested by the Turks. ..
Another testimony says that Loukas Tsolakis was arrested and was led as a captive in the prisons of Turkey; it is another one of our fellow villager Lefteri Papa Georgiou. Lefteris was caught as a captive and was transferred to the prisons of Amasias in Turkey .There he found the military identity card of Loukas on the floor. He took it and when he was free he delivered it to the Cyprus government.
All these prove that Loukas Tsiolakis like many other missing people were not killed in the war but they are alive that is why we will wait for them to come back . Oh, God when will that day come?
